Known Issues


1.  Profile duplicate errors:

It was unanimously recommended earlier in our CMS training that departments with Adjunct faculty or profiles in two or more departmental web pages, that a single profile system of organization be designed and deployed.  If users encounter error messages when saving profiles, chances are that a duplicate profile exists and the information is conflicting in the database.

The Solution:

(1) For each person with a duplicate profile cross departments, the "shortname" field each 'main' profile has been changed to be the person's MACID (if it wasn't already).

(2) Then each sub-profile (the duplicate profile on another departments page) was changed to the MACID and a number.

(3) Any information in a subprofile has been removed and a link to the main profile on the individuals home department has been put in its place. Ultimately this means that only one profile has to be maintained, and is the responsibility of the "home" department of that member. If the location or access poses any problems please let me know (marquis@mcmaster.ca) where the main profile should reside and we will make the necessary changes.

 
2.  Do not duplicate a Faculty and Staff Directory (FSD).  Doing so will result in site lockouts and error messages as this duplicates users account with editing rights.  If you wish to relocate a Faculty and Staff Directory tool please let me know where it is, and what new location you would like it relocated to and I will help facilitate the transition to prevent errors in the system.
